Review: This is a rude awakening. The intensive training of Hidaka-sensei helped Akiko pass her art school exams. It seems like she’s one step closer to making her dreams come true...at least that’s what she thinks! She’s determined to reach her goal, despite the distance yet to be covered. Akiko’s determined to seize her opportunity and fulfill her dreams.
Despite being funny, it’s also a little painful to read. I cringe when I see her making all these poor decisions, not just on her behalf, but also on my behalf, since I also make poor choices in my life. The author beautifully captures the feeling of losing passion for something that is usually so fulfilling.
Overall, it’s a good autobiography, but definitely not for everyone.
