Rating: ★★☆☆☆
Series:合法ドラッグ [Gohou Drug] (#4)
Summary: The story of Drug & Drop picks up right where Legal Drug left off! Kazahaya awakens from a disturbing dream of the sister he had to part from, Kei—covered in blood and clutching him close to her. If it's a case of seeing spirits, there's one young (?) man Kazahaya and Rikuo can go to for advice—a special guest character CLAMP fans know from xxxHolic and Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle—Kimihiro Watanuki!

Review: Drug & Drop continues the story of Legal Drug! In a disturbing dream, Kazahaya sees his sister, Kei, covered in blood and clutching him close to her. There’s one person Kazahaya and Rikuo can go to for advice if they see spirits: Kimihiro Watanuki! Watanuki tells them that Kei’s spirit is trying to tell him something and that they should listen to it. He takes them to a place where they can communicate with spirits, but before they can, a spirit attacks Rikuo!

This is a remake of an old CLAMP series I read in English years ago. They named the series Legal Drug back then, and I believe they put it on hold after only three volumes. Possibly because of the manga’s complexity, strange words, and that you can’t learn them unless you travel in the right circles, I may not have understood everything correctly. The context is missing, the connections between scenes are subtle or nonexistent. One of the best parts of the whole thing was seeing Watanuki from xxxHolic (and what I hope is a regenerated Yuko). CLAMP used to be one of my favorite authors. I collected everything they wrote, but this isn’t up to standard. The characters are too stereotypical. Is it because I grew up or because they lost touch?

Is this series worth recommending? Unless you read the original, the plot will confuse you if you haven’t read it. It’s better to skip this series and move on to something else. I’m not sure if the later series is better, but it’s probably best to move on.
